Ureteroscopy (URS) – Minimally Invasive Stone Removal
Safe and scar-free procedure to remove ureteric or kidney stones using advanced laser technology. Quick recovery and lasting relief.
What is Ureteroscopy (URS)?
Ureteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose and treat problems in the ureters and kidneys, most commonly ureteric or renal stones. A thin, flexible or rigid instrument called a ureteroscope is inserted through the urethra and bladder into the ureter, without any incision. Stones are either removed directly or fragmented using a laser
(Holmium:YAG laser).

Symptoms

Severe flank pain
Blood in urine (hematuria)
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) Blockage of urine flow
Causes (Leading to Stone Formation / URS Need)
Types of URS
Diagnosis (Before Surgery)
Ureteroscopy Treatment (Surgical Approach)
A thin scope is passed through the urethra → bladder → ureter without any cuts. Used to directly visualize ureteric or renal stones.
The stone is targeted and fragmented into fine dust (dusting) or small pieces (basketing). Safe and highly effective for ureter and kidney stones.
If pieces are large, a small basket is used to pull out fragments. Ensures complete stone clearance.
In cases of swelling, infection, or narrow ureter, a stent is placed. Promotes healing, prevents obstruction, and reduces postoperative pain.
Why You Should Not Delay
Delaying stone removal may worsen pain, cause repeated infections, block urine flow, and damage the kidneys. Early URS ensures quick relief, prevents complications, and protects kidney function.
